MARYVILLE MUSIC ACADEMY POLICIES AND PROCEDURES
TUITION
1. All payments are processed by pre-authorized credit cards or auto-draft from checking accounts on the first of the month. Private lessons are $160 per month for weekly 30-minute sessions at our location. Tuition is never prorated for missed lessons. Tuition does not include any retail teaching materials such as books or instruments.
Our Pre-K Toddlers ‘N Tunes program tuition is $120 monthly for weekly 30-minute sessions at our location. If you enroll before the first of the month, you will be pro-rated, and no offer will be available to combine with the pro-rated tuition charge of that month.
We do not do group rates, as each instructor's time is dedicated to one-on-one lessons with the student, and their pay depends on individual students. It also allows the instructor to spend more time with a student at their own pace.
CANCELLATIONS AND MAKEUPS
2. For any lessons missed by a teacher, the Academy will attempt to provide a substitute teacher. If a substitute teacher is unavailable, a private makeup lesson with the teacher will be scheduled promptly. If the student cancels before the 24-hour period of their next lesson, the instructor will provide a video of their lesson. If the student cancels or “No Shows” after the 24 hours of the next lesson, there will be no video lesson given. No Exceptions. If the instructor's times are all taken, then a suitable substitute will be assigned. We have 2 different ways for students and instructors to have lessons if in-person lessons aren’t an option. 1. We have our online lesson platform that you will need to create an account for, so you can access our lesson room with your instructor. 2. We have recorded lessons that our instructors will do for you and will upload them to your student portal to access them at your convenience.
If we have a school closing due to inclement weather situations like snow, flood, tornadoes, etc. The academy will contact you through our student portal system and via email that we have on file. If you have any questions about closings or whether you will be able to show up in person or online for your lessons, please contact us as soon as possible so we can make plans for those lesson times in advance.
DISCONTINUING LESSONS
3. To discontinue lessons and to discontinue charges to your account, you need to let us know 30 days before your last lesson. If this is not done, we will charge you for the extra month. You will need to fill out the withdrawal form. We do not prorate tuition for the last month’s lessons. Students will be responsible for their last month’s tuition, whether or not they attend lessons. Those students who are a part of our Musical Ladder Program will lose all progress when the student discontinues lessons and will have to start from the beginning again due to our franchise policy. No Exceptions.
AVERAGE OF FOUR LESSONS PER MONTH
4. Monthly tuition is based on a 48-week year. We are closed for four weeks and certain holidays. In the long months, you will get five lessons, in short months such as November and December, you will get three lessons, and in most months you will get four lessons. The tuition is the SAME each month; i.e., we don’t charge you more when you have five lessons, and we don’t charge you less when you have three lessons in a month. This makes everyone’s accounting easier.
SUMMER VACATION
5. The MMA operates year-round and does not close for the summer. If you are taking a month off for vacation and want to resume the next month, your payment is still due on the first of the month to reserve your lesson space. The lessons for the month you miss are offered as a video lesson that can be accessed at the students conveince.
CARE OF STUDENTS
6. The school is not responsible for providing before or after-care for students. Parents with children under the age of eight must remain in the school lobby during the classes. Students are not to be left at the school for an excessive period of time before or after their lessons.
OPEN DOOR POLICY
7. Parents are always allowed to sit in on lessons. We have an open-door policy for all lessons. This doesn’t mean the door is open, but parents can sit inside the lesson room unless the teacher feels they are disturbing the lesson.
INJURIES
8. Parents, legal guardians of minors, students, and adult students waive the right to any legal action for any injury sustained on school property resulting from normal lesson activity or any other activity conducted by the students or their siblings before, during, or after lesson time, including hearing loss or hearing damage. The Maryville Music Academy is not responsible for any damage done to vehicles or items stolen from vehicles.
PICKING UP
9. Children must wait for their parents to pick them up inside the Academy. Please do not ask them to meet you elsewhere. The MMA assumes no responsibility for children who leave unaccompanied.
