Drum Lessons

The MMA Experience

Whether you aspire to play the Blues, Rock, Pop, Jazz, Country, or Gospel, Maryville’s dedicated drum instructors will help you become the drummer you want to be. Our faculty will introduce you to the fundamentals of sight reading, technique and theory, and incorporate your favorite songs into your lessons. You do not need a full drum set at home to take lessons; a simple drum pad and sticks will suffice for the first six months. Watch this video to learn more about our drum lessons.

What’s the #1 reason to study the drums at the Academy?‍

Our drum instructors are warm and friendly, and get to know each student and parent on a personal level. We work with each individual or parent to craft a lesson plan that fits the student’s unique needs and favorite type of music. Whether you're playing in local bands, a seven year old taking their first lesson, or a fifty year old returning to the drums after many years, our teachers will share their love for drums and help you set goals to achieve your musical aspirations.

The Maryville Music Academy is the number one drum lessons program in Maryville, Tennessee and Blount County.

‍What styles of drums do you teach?‍

We teach all styles, from rock, pop and jazz to country, blues, gospel,  and classical.

How qualified are Maryville Music Academy's instructors?

Our drum faculty have received their musical education from prestigious institutions worldwide as well as vast years of professional performance and teaching experience to your lessons.

What will I learn from drum lessons at the Academy?

Our instructors challenge our students with wide-ranging technical exercises designed to improve speed and comfort. Drum language can be complex, and theory is encouraged. Students can bring in their favorite drum parts to learn in their lessons.

Do I need to purchase a drum kit to learn the drums?

Definitely not. Our professional, soundproof drum lesson rooms in Maryville Music Academy are equipped with a Alesis drum kit for our students. Just bring your drum sticks and a notebook. Beginning students can practice at home with a drum pad and sticks for only $25.

Are there drum recitals?‍

Absolutely! Every year our students have the opportunity to perform. Unlike most of our competitors, we do not charge students a fee to perform. And admission is free, so you can invite all of your family and friends.

At each recital, we give our students the red carpet treatment with photo opportunities in front of our academy repeating background and an actual red carpet runway.
